Per CEC practice, a multiconductor cable's own overall area is used, but the cable itself is normally counted as one raceway occupant for the 1/2/3+ fill-percentage bracket. Adjust "conductors counted per cable" only if your AHJ requires counting each conductor within the cable separately.
